Carlos Zimmerle

On my hunt to find an interesting character on the Palo Alto College campus, I ran into an old acquaintance, Carlos Zimmerle, a sophomore Biology major. In an impromptu interview at Church's Chicken, Zimmerle's perspective on life captured my attention.

Zimmerle graduated from John Jay High School in 2008. He has worked for Six Flags, Valero and Willford Hall. His love and loyalty lie toward his family, friends, music and his beloved Datsun 280Z. "They are the reason,” he said, for living and loving life.

In the future, Zimmerle hopes he will contribute to research and development. From his passion for cars, he intends to develop "free energy motor." Zimmerle's motivation led him to find his way to Palo Alto College.

"It’s not worth it, if you don’t try," he said with a determined look in his eye.

In addition to Zimmerle’s passion for a career, school and his toys, he is also an active guitarist. His performance of the classic "Save Me" by Queen was very impressive. He also played his own first original track named "World for the Better." Zimmerle wrote this song at the age of 20. His favorite verse is as follows: “How can you do this to your fellow man? Instead of your gun, just reach out your hand."

Zimmerle is inspired to be the best at what he does. "What can I do different?" This is his way of looking at obstacles in his life.
