Anthony Perez is a recruiter/adviser who has been at Palo Alto College for five years. He currently helps run the Dual Credit program in the Welcome Center.
He graduated from McCollum High School in 2003. Perez then went to Texas A&M - Corpus Christi and got his bachelor’s in Business Administration in 2007.
In Corpus, Perez began working with schools as an admissions specialist. After he graduated college, his first job with Alamo Colleges was at San Antonio College, where he was an adviser in Financial Aid for about two and a half years. He was also in charge of the work-study program, seeing over about 400 students.
Perez participated in a Financial Aid event one Saturday here at Palo Alto and met the staff. He found out that a position was open as a recruiter, so he applied and got the job. He has now been here since July 2010. Perez started off in the recruitment office helping run the dual-credit program and doing new student orientations.
Perez is also involved in the College Connection program. At Palo Alto College, the recruitment office and Welcome Center merged and he took over many of the duties, including lead adviser for the Dual Credit program. Perez is on many committees, including the Dual Credit committee at district, which helps to decide everything that happens regarding dual credit. He also helps train the other advisers in the Welcome Center as their main point of contact.
“I love working at Palo Alto because everyone is very nice and welcoming.” said Perez. “I’ve gotten a chance to know everyone and I have truly enjoyed it.”
