The hotel lost your reservation, your friend had to work, you’ve just about maxed out your credit card and Spring Break is less than a week away. There’s no need to panic. The Pulse has got you covered.

So, “What is there to do this Spring Break in San Antonio?” you ask. The following are just a few suggestions from The Pulse for the fun-loving students of Palo Alto College.

Trevor Tellez, a junior at Texas A&M-San Antonio said, “I would go out with my friends at least three or four days.”

His common favorites include movies, clubs and pool halls. Though, Tellez thinks getting schoolwork done early is the way to go.

“I’ll probably try to get my work done early,” he said.

For those students who get enough work done to have some fun, plan a little to do a lot.

Brittany Monsivais, a Liberal Studies sophomore at Palo Alto College, said, “It would be fun to go to one of the amusement parks.”

San Antonio’s Six Flags Over Texas comes complete with the ultimate cast of characters from Bugs Bunny to Daffy Duck, Tweety Bird and their Looney Tunes pals. If you haven’t been to Six Flags in a while, the new attractions will definitely keep you busy. The Goliath rollercoaster is a blend of excitement, looks and safety.

Once you board while standing up, the bottom drops out and visitors fly through loops in zero-gravity while suspended in air. Also, at Six Flags is the Krypton Coaster, Poltergeist and the Scream along with the fireworks/laser light show. Tickets start at $39.99 for a day pass at www.sixflags.com

Six Flags will be open from 10 a.m to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Friday.

Also open this Spring Break is San Antonio’s Sea World. This theme park boasts shows and attractions, like the ‘Believe’ Shamu show, assorted roller coasters and various aquariums. Tickets start at $47.50 for adults and children.

Sea World San Antonio is open Saturday, March 12, through Saturday, March 19, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. On Sunday, March 20, the park will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visit Sea World online at www.seaworld.com/sanantonio

San Antonio’s Witte Museum is perfect for a day of fun and learning. Their new exhibit, the Amazon Voyage: Vicious Fishes and Other Riches, takes you on a tour of one of the longest rivers in the world: the Amazon River.

See extraordinary wildlife, including piranhas, sting rays and alligators. The dinosaur exhibit is always on display, with the huge Tyrannosaurus Rex and Stegosaurus remains.

Other exhibits include: Texas Wild, HEB Learning Tree House and Beautiful Bugs. So, pack a picnic basket and make it a family day at the Witte Museum.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $6 for kids. Visit www.wittemuseum.org for more information.

The San Antonio Zoo is a great place to go with friends or family and have a good time. At the zoo you can visit the ‘twilight house’ where bats live, Boo and Lucky the elephants, snakes, fish, rhinoceroses, bears, giraffes, monkeys and tigers.

Ticket prices are $10.75 for adults and $8 for kids. For more details go to www.sazoo-aq.org

Luminaria, held on Saturday, March 12, is San Antonio’s annual celebration of art and artists. This outdoor event is free of charge and will be held in Hemisfair Park. Last year’s event had an estimated 200,000 people attend. Call (210) 271-2842 for more information or go to www.luminariasa.org.

If going out is not an option because of a lack of money, that’s not a problem either. Girls can host a spa party. Just send a text message to your best friends, giving them a time, place and suggestions of what beauty items to bring.

Guys can send out a text asking their friends to bring their favorite video games for a video game night.

If you are up for having a good time outdoors, visit the city’s park directory at www.sanantonio.gov/parksandrec/ Find out what parks are nearby and take a friend to go walking.

Spring Break is March 14-18. Classes will resume on Monday, March 21.

After the break, only seven weeks of classes remain in the spring semester. The last day to drop classes is April 26.
