The Final Beat
Palomino basketball player thinks outside the hoop
Palo Alto College basketball player and Kinesiology major, Drew Jefferson, was recently awarded a full basketball scholarship to Hiwassee University in Madisonville, Tennessee.
Jefferson, a San Antonio native who graduated from East Central High School, has been playing basketball for about 15 years. He also does well in school, which made him an excellent candidate for acceptance. Using a creative approach, not only did Jefferson send in qualified applications, but he also sent in a video to showcase his talent.
He dedicates his success to his mother, a single parent, who has always believed in him. He also thanks his coach, John Libby, and his family and friends.
"I want to do well in basketball, but I also want to further my education; I always tell people, 'Stay in school,' because your mind goes on longer than your legs," said Jefferson.
