Logistics and Supply Chain scholarship recipient selected
Palo Alto student Albert Rangel is the 2008-2009 recipient of the Jim and Charlotte Burdine Scholarship. Requirements for the scholarship are that you must be a Logistics and Supply Chain Management major, bi-lingual, full-time student with a 3.0 GPA.
The scholarship awards $4,000 per academic year and a paid internship with Quebecor International, which Rangel is currently participating in. Managers there have even asked Rangel to apply for a mid-level position on the corporate side of the business. Congratulations, Albert! Scholarships give students Hope and Greene
The Diane Greene Memorial Scholarship is given in memory of a former Palo Alto College English professor. The award was organized to honor Greene’s support for students of any major to pursue intellectual excellence. The recipients for the Spring 2009 semester include Jessica Gomez, Janneth Garcia, Norma Martinez, Rosario Placencia, Gabriella Reynosa and Karen Warren who split $2,500 for tuition and books.
The Jane Hope Memorial Scholarship Selection Committee is also pleased to announce its Spring 2009 scholarship recipients, Loraine Rodriguez and Mellisa Warren, who split $1,000 for the Spring semester at PAC.
PACfest returns with more food, music and fun
Palo Alto College will celebrate PACfest 2009 on Thursday, April 23, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. This official Fiesta San Antonio event is held in PAC’s central courtyard, and its features include food and novelty booths, as well as live music and games.
PACfest’s musical entertainment on the PAC Stage includes punk rock band, Girl in a Coma; Latin group, Los Desperadoz; and Nashville Star finalist, Gabe Garcia. Entertainment on the Palomino Stage includes VonArmy, Dog Men Poets, Nothing More, Heather Go Psycho and Fall of a Legacy. Admission to this family-oriented and alcohol-free festival is free.

Pssst! Have you heard the news? The Forensic Science Club is looking for new members.
It’s not just about Forensic Science. It’s also about making friends, getting involved in your community and being young ambassadors to local high school students. Activities include seminars, conferences, fundraising events and more. The club meets every Monday at 6:30 p.m. in Room 402 in Portable Building 1.

Current emergency contact information requested
It is important that students keep their contact information updated with Palo Alto in case an emergency strikes.
To update your contact information in your PALS account, click on the Student tab. Then, click on PALS Web Services. From there, click on Student & Financial Aid. Under Personal Information, click on Emergency Contact Information View/Update.
The new Emergency Notification System will allow PAC to deliver urgent messages to home, work and cell phones. Students will also receive emergency text messages and e-mail. Contact information will remain private.

Jennifer Rodriguez, Protective Services senior secretary, and Greg Pasztor, Communications instructor, were crowned Queen and King of MASACARAS 2009 on Fat Tuesday, Feb. 24, in the Student Center Annex. Rodriguez and Pasztor raised more than $400 to benefit Staff Council and Student Government Association.
