honoree Angela Borja, a Palo Alto graduate, was named student of the semester by the PASSKey program for Spring 2001. An honors reception took place on Nov. 14, 2001, at the Counseling Center. Borja, who now attends Our Lady of the Lake University and is majoring in Social Work, said, People at Palo Alto are very generous and caring. The PASSKey Program gave me the opportunity to accomplish my goals. I worked in the Transfer Center, met different people, visited the art museum in the community, got scholarships and much more. The event also congratulated other students for their outstanding efforts, hard work and excellent academic progress. Those honored were Shirley Mendez, Sandra Christian, Lisa Robertson, Elisha L. Students may take these courses for credit or non-credit. Plant Propagation, Principles of Horticulture and Landscape Design classes are all available during registration. Kirk Williams, the Agribusiness Management instructor at Palo Alto said, In the past, we have grown plants, organized campus landscape projects, and done landscape design for the Ray Ellison Family Center. Participants and winners are Vanessa Jasso, Eddie Castillo, Gabriel Palacios, Marcus Estrada, Patrick Pastrano, John Harris and Steve Ferecak. The ACCD colleges, Coastal Bend College in Beeville and Southwest Texas Junior College in Uvalde competed in mens basketball and flag football and womens basketball and volleyball. Womens basketball and volleyball are played at Saint Philips College, the mens basketball at San Antonio College, and the flag football at Our Lady of the Lake University, said Leandro Esparza, Director of Student Activities at Palo Alto. Palo Alto Choir Six members of the Palo Alto Choir were selected for the 2002 All-State Choir on Friday, Nov. 16, at Coastal Bend Community College in Beeville. Those selected include Yalda Zamiri, Yahaira Ortiz, Marilynda Longoria, Reyna Lopez, David Robles and Andrew Trevino. Christina Romans was selected as an alternate. These students will perform in February for the Texas Music Educators Association Convention.
