May 14, 2000, is a day to honor and respect mothers across the country.
For many
families, Mother's Day is just another day, but to others, it is a celebration
in honor of their moms.
Mother's Day is a holiday to appreciate all mothers and what they do for us, said Sean Mann, a sophomore Sports Medicine major.
Mother's Day allows everyone to tell their mom how much they mean to them. I usually take her out to eat, or we just go do something, because my mom is my best friend and Mother's Day is a chance for me to show her how much she means to me, said Kelly Garwood, a freshman Undeclared major.
Joshua Keller, a sophomore Business Management major said, Mother's Day is a chance to thank my mom for all she does.
A special memory Connie Riojas, a freshman Business major has of her mom is being little and making cards and hearts for her on Mother's Day at school. Riojas remembers how proud she was when she gave the gift to her mom.
Many families celebrate Mother's Day through parties or cookouts. We throw a party for my aunts, my grandmother and my mother to honor them on Mother's Day, said Chrissy Guerrero, a freshman Music major.
One of the more interesting Mother's Day ideas is a trip to a day spa, which can be quite costly for a college student. Something else that may be nice to do for `Mom' is to take her to get a manicure or pedicure. Both are around $20-$30. Another great idea is a fifteen-minute neck massage, which costs less than $20, and is available at River Center Mall, Whole Foods and Central Market.
Students can buy their mom a collectible figure, or take her out to eat at a nice restaurant. For those who have a little less money, make her dinner. It can be anything. Just have fun and enjoy the time spent together.
For all those starving artists, paint her a picture, write her a poem or sing her a song. She'll love the idea that it was made just for her with love.
As for everyone else who cannot figure out just what to give or do for mom on Mother's Day, give her a hug and tell her you love her.
So what is the perfect Mother's Day gift? Whatever you get or do for your `Mom' will be perfect. The most important thing is to spend time with her. No matter what you do, your mom should feel special and appreciated on her special day.
