Every student needs time to unwind. All work and no play makes for a dull life. Luckily, San Antonio offers an abundance of free-time diversions.

Freshmen Business and Administration major Priscilla Palmer said she socializes at the Bonham,

Park Place, and other clubs that allow students ages eighteen and up. “On my weekends, I go to the Atrium,” said Palmer. “I love seeing movies too, especially with my boyfriend at the new Live Oak Cinema Theater.”

Dustin Olsen, freshmen Criminal Justice major, said he spends his weekends at Game Works in the Quarry. “ In my free time, I play video games with my buds,” said Olsen. Game Works is located under Bally's Fitness Center and next door to The Quarry Movie Theater.

Senior Property Manager for the Quarry Market Shopping Center Jerry Stuart said, “I noticed the majority of crowds are college students.” The Quarry Market includes clothing shops to furniture stores and restaurants to cafés.

Wanda Williamson, freshman Advertising major, said after working a long day at Abercrombie, she likes to meet up with her friends at Starbucks in the Quarry across from Canyon Café. “I love the atmosphere, and love their vanilla Frappuccinos even more.”

Freshmen Journalism major Nicole Lockwood said, “Far West is a cool place to socialize and enjoy concerts.” Wednesday and Thursday are concert nights for ages eighteen and up. Admission is $3 on Wednesdays and $6 on Thursdays.

Melissa Friesenhahn, freshmen Communications major, said, “There's lots of fun restaurants my friends and I go to in order to try something different. We catch up on the latest news while enjoying the restaurant.” Friesenhahn and her friends' favorite restaurant is Chris Madrid's on Blanco, off of Hildebrand. “They have the best hamburgers. My personal favorite is the bean burger,” she said.

Freshmen Business major Leticia Gonzales said, “I go out with my cousins to Ingram Park Mall and to the movies. We recently saw “Stigmata” at the Quarry,” Gonzales said. “Ingram isn't packed with people like North Star Mall is, and Ingram has plenty of department stores, too.”

Dancing couple clipart Ruben Valadez, a sophomore Business major, works for the Marriott downtown. Valadez said he works on weekends, but on Wednesday nights he goes clubbing. “Every Wednesday night my friends and I go to the Atrium. We stay out all night,” he said.

James Kruse, sophomore Hotel Management major, said there's a lot to do in San Antonio, but his favorite is taking his girlfriend to nice restaurants. “I love spending time with my girlfriend,” he said. “The other night we went to Mi Tierra's Mexican restaurant downtown. It was good Mexican food and a fun environment.”

Having a school life without having a social life isn't heard of for these Palo Alto students. Time to relax and unwind with friends and loved ones is time well spent.
