Having a large number of family members how did y'all managed to live? Can you describe me in the house you lived in?
Yes life was hard but we all worked since a young age to have a plate to eat, what we eat everyday was beans and tortillas and if we were lucky we had wild cactus, are house was really small we only had one bedroom where in one corner my parents slept and in each corner girls in one and boys in another one, we did have furniture at all we slept on the floor with a blanket and a small kitchen where we only had one chair.

What was your life as a child?
I really didn't have a child hood I would have to work on the fields and with the cattle's in the ranch

When you were a young kid what were your future goals?
When I was young I really didn't have dreams or nothing like that we were realistic, the only way to reach are goals is to work hard, one thing that I did want was to have a family and ranch with horses

At what age did you stop going to school and why?
When I was 14 years old I stopped going to school because it was far and I would only go for five months so I decided to stop going to school and help my dad all day at the ranch

What was the most difficult thing for you while growing up?
The most difficult thing for me was seeing my twin brother dying slowing, my twin brother passed away when he was just nine years old, I remember my brother being in bed for more than nine months and couldn't go anywhere, his favorite animal was turtles so I would go to the river and get turtles and take them to him, another one was that my dad would buy him bananas and he would eat them and I'll eat the banana peel, it was a twin thing "hahaha" he started laughing

Why did you decide to immigrate to the United States
I decided to immigrate to the United States because I wanted a better life

ANALYSIS

I learned a lot from this project I'm glad I decided to do immigration but not just that but being able to interview my father. It was really hard to take some of his time because his been really busy since we just moved. I learned things that I didn't know from my dad of everything he went through to get us where we are now I'm glad to call him "papa" (dad) and I'm really proud of him even though he didn't go to school he worked hard just to see his family happy. The most important thing I learned was that being an illegal immigrant, and looking for a good life is not easy when you have to start from zero. That in order to achieve your goals there will always be sacrifice that you being making in your life in order to achieve them. That if you really want something you're going to have to work for it and when you less realize you have reach it and knowing that you achieve it working is going to make you proud and others will be proud of you as well. His life hasn't been easy but he is always smiling and telling joking because he says life is to enjoy. At times he didn't want to answer my questions because it was hard to talk about it because he really never talked about it with no one. I knew this stories were true because he lived it with family members that also told me the same stories my father told me but one thing they couldn't tell me was the feelings my father had at that time because he was a strong person but at times he would be sad but everything he was doing was for the better of him and his family. I'm a proud daughter of knowing that his family is the most important thing in his life. He has never let us down and I know he never will his "My Hero, My Inspiration, My Dad." Doing an oral history is affective because you learn things that you didn't know that happened in the past or what that person was going through.
