Many years before the town Sabinal was established, ranch families in the surrounding areas gathered in homes or outdoors to worship God. Currently, the city of Sabinal is said to have a church attendance of more than 50 percent. Looking at the town's history, one quickly finds that a total of six churches occupy the town. These churches represent many denominations such as: Baptist, Catholic, Christian, and Methodist.
On September 10, 1972 it was decided by 18 people, that the name of their future church would be Trinity Baptist. The newly organized church met in homes until the present building was suitable for worship on September 17th. The church is also known for supporting missionaries for their work with the Indians in Arizona. Trinity is now moving forward in all areas.
In the early 1950's the new 300-seat church was designed. In honor of St. Patrick it was dedicated on June 15, 1952. Today there are nearly 1,000 parishioners listed on the census roles.
On June 17, 1879, the Central Christian Church of Sabinal was organized under Evangelist J.N. Gibson. The church, along with holding services and other functions is said to do a lot of work in the missionary field. Though extensive redecorating of the present structure began on May 25, 1969, the building holds many memories for the townspeople.
The Church of Christ started in 1901, with a few members from the church of Uvalde. In 1932, a modern building was built, which became known as the "Depression Church" (it was built during the depression with free labor). The present building was built in 1969 on Highway 127 on the north edge of Sabinal.
