How does your family make a living here in Fashing?
My job - is working for a gas plant here in Fashing.
My husband works for Diamond Shamrock Refinery 40 miles south of here.
We also raise some livestock mainly for 4H
What do you do there?
I do many jobs there such as payroll, safety environmental training records, security for the plant. Also all purchasing and accounting for plants supplies. Sometimes dispatch trucks when certain storages get full, to sell it to a company nearby.
What do they make at the plant?
We turn natural gas into gasoline, butane, and propane: plus we get some sulfur out of it.
What do they use the sulfur for?
For making fertilizers.
Who do they sell the gasses to?
To Corpus Christi through the El Paso gas sales-line.
How long have you lived here in Fashing?
Fifteen years, so far.
What brought you here to Fashing?
When I married my husband 15 years ago.
Do you like it here?
I love it here. Mainly because it is so peaceful and the people are so nice, caring, and friendly. I also like being around the farm environment and raising a few cattle. Plus, my children get the great experience of raising and being around the animals.
Do you have any children?
Yes; I have two daughters.
Where do they go to school?
Karnes City.
How do they get there?
The school bus comes by my house.
Do you know who built the church?
No I don't, But I do know the land was donated by the Henke's.
Where did you live before you came here to Fashing?
I lived in nearby Jourdanton.
