What kinds of crops were/are grown in Fashing?
We grow corn, wheat, maze, milo, and for our cattle hay grazers such as oats, and coastal hay.

What kind of farming?
In general we ranch cattle, and others farm grains. We haven't grown cotton in many years.

What kind of environment would you say that Fashing has?
Quiet and peaceful; I know everyone and everyone knows me.

Has anyone ever told you the history of Fashing?
Yes, some of it, but for the most part I have lived it.

Do you know how Fashing was established?
Yes, I believe the Henke family were the first farmers to settle here in 1916.

How many years have you lived here in Fashing?
Since 1940 - so then that is for 61 years. I have lived in this specific town since I got married. I lived nearby before I got married, in Cambellton, which is 13 miles west of Fashing.

How did you survive the drought when many people left the area?
Me and my seven children farmed the land while my husband went off to Port Lavaca as a carpenter to make extra money for his family to survive the drought.

What do you think of Fashing TX?
I love it here. I love the people and they love us. And we know it. Come and visit for a while and you will see how nice it is here. And if you don't like it you can go back to your city. But I'm sure you will love it here just as much as we do.

Do you know who built the church?
Yes, we did as a community. The Henke's donated the land for the church. The church cost $4,500.
